2008 CDC Funding Opportunities

Funding Results

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced their FY 2009 funding in response to the Potential Extramural Projects. A full listing of the funding results for research and non-research is now available. Results for the investigator initatied applicants are available on the non-research page. The results posted are based on the total amount of LOIs, applications and funded projects received by AAMC, ASPH and APTR. Specific funding questions should be directed to your respective member Association.

Potential Extramural Projects (Research) Listing

In December 2007, the CDC released the 2008 Potential Extramural Projects (PEPs). Letters of Intent (LOIs) should be submitted to your respective member association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on January 18, 2008. Please review the LOI instructions before preparing your LOI. An original and six collated copies of your PHS 398 grant application should be submitted to your respective Association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on March 14, 2008. All applications for this group will be peer reviewed. Applicants should carefully review the research application review criteria prior to preparing your submission.

Potential Extramural Projects (Non-Research) Listing

The CDC has released the 2008 Non-Research Project Areas. Letters of Intent (LOIs) for this group of projects should be submitted to your respective member association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on January 18, 2008. Please review the LOI instructions before preparing your LOI. An original and six collated copies of your PHS 5161 grant application should be submitted to your respective Association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on March 14, 2008. All applications for this group will be objectively reviewed. Applicants should carefully review the non-research application review criteria prior to preparing your submission. Additional review criteria has been listed in the PEP project description.

Investigator Initiated Projects

The CDC accepts non-research based Investigator Initiated (IIA) Letters of Intent (LOIs) and grant applications; however, investigator initiated applications may or may not be reviewed depending on whether the applicable CIO can identify potential funding for an approved project. IIAs will follow the same submission criterion as the non-research Potential Extramural Projects. IIA proposals should not exceed 2 years. There are no budget restrictions placed on these proposals. LOIs should be submitted to your respective member association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on January 18, 2008. An original and six collated copies of your PHS 5161 grant application should be submitted to your respective Association no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on March 14, 2008. All applications for this group will be objectively reviewed.
